The most important 1000 metres we have

In outback western Queensland, we are 1000's of kilometers away from any medical services. So, in case of an emergency, we thought it would be a good idea to build an airstrip for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) to land. With the kind permission of the station owner we chose a natural site on top of an escarpment close to our Mt. Margaret opal mining camp. Pictured above is the inaugural landing of the RFDS to get our official registration. The RFDS is a wonderful medical emergency evacuation service that is highly regarded by all Australians. We also donate to the RFDS throughout the year. Thanks RFDS!
